Cabin Makeover Update--Chairs & Pillows

                                      Before                                  After
Now that the paint is drying outside, let's take a peek at some improvements on the inside....did I mention that this cabin came partially furnished?  Well it did, and sometimes there's a reason things are left behind.  This poor chair and faded cushion was really needing a pick-me-up, so I set out to do just that.  Instead of getting new interior cushions at Pier One or the like, I shopped the outdoor seasonal cushions and snagged these at 40% off!  I sewed on some ties so they won't slip off the chair frame and VOILA!  Updated chairs for a fraction of the price!  Cozy little throw pillows in Amy Butler's Fresh Start fabric, invite the fam to pull up a seat and enjoy and ice cold glass of lemonade.  These work great in the family room and are also portable enough for the sun porch.

Cabin Update!

Before                                         After

The painting is complete, thanks to Jeff and a little cooperation from the weather!  We just love how the glisten yellow and white trim have brightened the space up.  You'd never know that our paint shop gave us the wrong color of yellow the first time around.  :)  It took 3 coats of paint and quite a bit of elbow grease to get all of the dark brown covered, but we are ecstatic with the transformation.  It looks like a happening place to hang out at this summer.  Now for a little landscaping....

Markers and Kids

When the kids are quiet at the cousins be very afraid!  Not only did Owen think he was applying makeup all over his face with green marker...he had it on his stomach, his legs and his rear!  Marker does not come off eyelids very easily even if it says it's washable.

First Game of Scrabble

I played my first game of Scrabble with my 6 year old, Baran, and here's a picture of our board.  Not bad for someone who couldn't spell his last name 9 months ago when he started Kindergarten.  Shout out to Ms. Clauson, you rock!  Ok, so first of all I must say Scrabble is the most classic game that has survived decades of playing.  You can play it by candlelight when the power goes out, you can play it while Monday Night Football is on, and you can play it while you are baking cookies--especially if you are playing with a person who has to get the most  possible points on every turn, I won't mention any names... Baran was able to outscore me by laying "track" on a triple word score and then laying "ing" on a triple word score--the rest is history.  I will spend the rest of my life trying to win back my dignity!  What is the most points you have ever gotten on one word?
